EpicStride
Terms of Service
Last updated 28 October 2026
The short version: the stories are yours to enjoy, the stores handle the money, and your safety comes first.
Every saga is free to begin, and a complete saga is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play — no account, no subscription. The stories are yours to listen to on your own devices, for your own enjoyment. EpicStride asks you to move, so move safely: you choose the difficulty, and you can pause the story whenever you like.
Who these terms are with
EpicStride is made by Chillingworth Labs, a trade name of Walla Vine LLC, a Washington limited liability company (“we”, “us”). These terms cover the EpicStride apps for iPhone, Apple Watch, Android phones and Wear OS watches, and this website. By downloading or using EpicStride you agree to them; if you don’t agree, please don’t use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your information and is part of these terms.
You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree to them for you. Some of the stories include mild fantasy violence and horror, so EpicStride isn’t made for young children.
Move safely
EpicStride is a story you walk, jog and run through. Exercise carries risk, and you are responsible for your own safety while you use it.
- Check with a doctor first if you have a heart condition or another health condition, are pregnant, are recovering from an injury, or haven’t exercised in a while.
- Watch where you’re going. Keep an eye out for traffic, cyclists and uneven ground, keep the volume low enough to hear what’s around you, and follow local laws. Never use EpicStride while driving, cycling, or doing anything else that needs your full attention.
- Choose a pace that’s right for you. Pick an easier difficulty, slow down, or pause the story whenever you need to. Some stretches ask you to hold a pace, and if you drop out of one you can always run it again. Stop straight away if you feel pain, faintness, dizziness or unusual shortness of breath.
- The numbers are estimates. Distance, pace, cadence and heart-rate readings come from your devices’ sensors and can be wrong. The effort zones are typical exercise heart rates, not medical guidance, and nothing in EpicStride is medical advice.
Free stories and purchases
Act I of every saga, and all of The Hollow Road, are free. A complete saga is a one-time purchase, and The Four Sagas bundles The Odyssey, The Iliad, Dracula and Frankenstein into a single purchase, offered until you own any one of them. There is no subscription. Prices are shown in the store before you buy and may differ from country to country.
- The stores handle every purchase. You buy through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, under their terms, and they process the payment. We never see your payment details.
- A purchase belongs to the store account you used. It doesn’t carry over between Apple and Google. Use “Restore purchases” in the app to bring it back on a new device. On the App Store, purchases can be shared with your family through Family Sharing.
- Refunds come from the store, under its refund policy: from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or from Google through Google Play’s refund request.
- A saga you buy downloads. The rest of its audio comes from Apple’s or Google’s servers, which needs an internet connection and some free space. If your device clears that audio to make room, the app offers the download again; your purchase isn’t affected.
We keep improving EpicStride, so updates may change the app or its stories — fixing scenes, re-recording narration, adding features. We may also stop offering the app, or a story, in future. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under your store’s terms or under consumer law.
Your licence to the stories
EpicStride and everything in it — the stories, scripts, narration, recordings, music, sound and artwork — belong to Walla Vine LLC or to those who license them to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. The classic stories our sagas retell are in the public domain; what we claim is our telling of them, not the originals.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use EpicStride on devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment, as your app store’s usage rules allow. You may not:
- copy, record, extract or share the audio, scripts or artwork, or make them available to anyone else;
- sell, rent, lend or sublicense the app or anything in it;
- play EpicStride to an audience or use it commercially — in a class or a broadcast, for example — without our written permission;
- reverse engineer or modify the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- get around a purchase, or use the app in a way that breaks the law.
“EpicStride” and its logo are our trademarks. If you believe something in EpicStride infringes your copyright, see our copyright page. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without any obligation to you.
Other companies’ services
EpicStride relies on services other companies provide and we don’t control: the App Store and Google Play, Apple Health and Apple’s speech recognition, Health Services on Wear OS, and the connection between your watch and your phone. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them, and we aren’t responsible for them. When you use EpicStride you must also keep to any third-party terms that apply to you — your mobile carrier’s data agreement, for example.
If you got EpicStride from the App Store
Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app, and these terms add to it. You and we both acknowledge that:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- if the app fails to meet any warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app;
- Apple isn’t responsible for any claim about the app or your use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer-protection, privacy or similar claims;
- if anyone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim;
- you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
If you got EpicStride from Google Play
Google Play’s terms of service apply to your use of Google Play and to purchases made through it. These terms are between you and us, not Google.
No warranties
EpicStride is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the app will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that its readings of your movement and heart rate are accurate.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from EpicStride or your use of it. Our total liability for any claim about EpicStride is limited to the amount you paid for EpicStride purchases in the twelve months before the claim.
Some places don’t allow these exclusions or limits — for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and where the law doesn’t allow them, they don’t apply to you.
Claims caused by misuse
If you use EpicStride in breach of these terms or the law, and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs, including legal fees, that the claim causes us, to the extent the law allows.
Resolving disputes
If something goes wrong, please write to us first at support@epicstride.app. Most problems can be sorted out quickly, and we’ll both try in good faith for at least 30 days before either of us takes it further.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute we can’t resolve informally will be decided by the state or federal courts in Washington, and you and we each agree to that venue. Either of us may instead bring a claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
If you live somewhere whose consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, or to rely on your local law, nothing in these terms takes that right away.
Ending these terms
You can stop using EpicStride at any time by deleting it. If you break these terms, your licence to use EpicStride ends automatically. The sections on ownership, warranties, liability, claims and disputes continue to apply after that.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll post the new version here and update the date above. If a change matters, we’ll say so on this page before it takes effect. Using EpicStride after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
The fine print
If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we haven’t given up the right to. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them to a company that takes over EpicStride. These terms, our Privacy Policy, and the terms of the store you got EpicStride from, where they apply, are the whole agreement between you and us about EpicStride.
