How the story works
Put in your headphones, choose a story, and head out the door. The narration advances while you move and pauses the moment you stop — then picks back up from the same line when you set off again. You never need to look at your phone: glance at the Lock Screen if you like, but the story lives in your ears.

The narrator keeps pausing — is something wrong? That's by design. The story only plays while you're actually moving. Make sure your iPhone can sense your motion (in a pocket, hand, or armband is fine) and that you've allowed the Motion & Fitness permission when asked.
It isn't hearing my voice at a fork. Speak the exact word shown on screen (“Say Approach”), and grant the microphone permission the first time you're asked. Recognition runs on-device, so it works without a signal. Prefer not to talk? Tapping the choice always works.
Does audio keep playing with the screen off? Yes. A Live Activity keeps your pace and scene on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and audio continues with the phone locked and in your pocket.
Do I choose to walk, jog, or run? No — the pace of each scene belongs to the story, chosen by the author to fit the moment. What you choose, once before a run, is the intensity: Easy, Moderate, or Hard. That one setting scales how hard every scene pushes; it isn't a gear.
What's free, and what's paid? Act I of The Odyssey (Troy to the Cyclops) and all of The Hollow Road are free forever. The Complete Odyssey — Acts II & III, The Return, and a secret epilogue — is a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription.
Restoring a purchase or asking for a refund. Purchases are handled by Apple. Use “Restore Purchases” in the app to bring back the Complete Odyssey on a new device; refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
